The City of Hamilton hosts free musical performances as the new Summer Concert Series program kicks off its opening weekend in Hamilton.

The Summer Concert Series will feature 10 outdoor concerts over the course of the summer with each concert being held in a new location.

The events are entirely free for admission and attendees are encouraged to explore local shops and restaurants in each concert location.

The music styles will range from reggae to indie-alternative to jazz with two local acts performing per concert.

There are two concerts taking place today.

The first one at Ferguson Station, 244 King St East is being held in partnership with the International Village BIA for the ‘Shop the Village’ Sidewalk Sale.

The second concert today is in a different location, James St. North and Wilson St. featuring musical acts such as Linebeck, a Hamilton-based indie, dream-pop band and Wax Mannequin, an artist who writes music that is humorous and embraces the ridiculous.

The Summer Concert Series supports the city’s arts community by providing opportunities for local musicians to perform.

Organizers say the events will run rain or shine and to bring your own seating.
