Free bus rides offered in Niagara Falls for municipal election voters

Voters who present the proper identification will be able to get a free ride on Niagara Falls Transit to cast ballots in the municipal election.

Although election day is on October 24, the offer has also been extended to those who want to vote in advanced polls.

Niagara city councillors recently approved the move to make it easier for voters to cast ballots.

The program has been offered in the past but only on election day.

The move comes as voter turnout for the last municipal election in 2018 was considered low in Niagara Falls with slightly less than 40 per cent turnout of registered voters.

To receive the free ride voters just have to present their voter notification card to the transit operator on voting days.
