Looking for something fun to do on a budget this April?

It’s officially spring and while the weather is still nippy, there are a ton of fun indoor activities across Brampton. Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives (PAMA) on Wellington St. is an awesome place to stroll, enjoy art, and learn a little more about our history and heritage.

Every day this April, PAMA is offering free admission!

That’s right, you can check out all of PAMA’s exhibits free of charge all month long.

April is Sikh Heritage Month, and according to PAMA, free admission this month is actually sponsored by the Sikh Foundation of Canada.

Here are the new spring exhibitions you can check out if you go:

April 7-July 2

Lost Heritage: A Sikh Legacy in Pakistan by Amardeep Singh

A photography exhibit thatreflects Singapore-based Amardeep Singh’s deep connection to the land of his ancestors – a connection that impelled him to travel to Pakistan in 2014 to re-trace the movement of the Sikhs eastward and to document their journey,” says PAMA.

Singh also has an artist talk on April 21 at 12 p.m.

Rupy C. Tut: A Journey Back Home

Rupy C. Tut is an emerging American artist. Her exhibit is a personal journey back to her childhood, featuring paintings and drawings translating Sikh scripture, interpreting popular Punjabi stories and representing contemporary cross-cultural themes,” says PAMA.

Tut’s artist talk is happening on April 22 at 2 p.m.

March 29-April 29

Kaum: Celebrating Contemporary Sikh Artists

A ton of artwork created by Canadian and American Sikh artists. Four artists in particular will be featured.

Drumming circles, family fun days, and Earth Day activities are also happening at PAMA this month, and you can also check out Brampton’s old courthouse and jail on the premises.

There’s a lot of history at PAMA, so grab a coffee and take a stroll!

Admission is typically $5 per adult, $4 for students and seniors, and $12 for families.
