Vandals decided to trash a Niagara Falls baseball diamond at some point over the weekend (October 30-31), causing thousands of dollars in damage.

On Monday (November 1), Niagara Falls Parks staff discovered that vandals destroyed the turf at a baseball diamond in Patrick Cummings Memorial Sports Complex (9000 Sodom Road) on either October 30th or 31st.

Evidence of off-road vehicle tracks from an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and dirt bike now scar the playing field.

The extent of the damage to the sod, clay diamond and irrigation system is now being investigated. Municipal Works Manager Marianne Tikky estimates it will cost thousands of dollars to repair.

Anyone with information about the vandalism should contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at their non-emergency line 905-688-4111.
