UPDATE: Police say they have located the young person in question and the reported possible weapon turned out to be a toy gun. There were no injuries and all hold-and-secure orders have been lifted.

Four north Mississauga schools and a daycare facility are in partial lockdown after police received reports this morning of a young person possibly armed with a weapon near a high school.

Peel Regional Police said via social media that Lincoln Alexander Secondary School, Darcel Avenue Senior Public School, Corliss Public School, Holy Cross Separate School and a YMCA daycare have been placed in hold-and-secure mode while police investigate.

According to police, they received a report just before 11 a.m. of a “young person possibly seen with a weapon” near Goreway Drive and Morning Star Drive in the Malton area of the city.

Lincoln Alexander Secondary School is located just steps away from that intersection.
