QEW Mississauga lane and area road closures due to highway bridge work
Lane closures on and around the QEW in Mississauga are commonplace these days as work continues on the bridge over the Credit River.

Four QEW lanes in Mississauga will be shut down to traffic at various times in the evenings and overnight hours from Sept. 18 to 26 as crews continue work on rehabilitation of the highway bridge over the Credit River.

Officials with the QEW/Credit River Improvement Project, who are overseeing the massive undertaking, say two westbound lanes from Hurontario St. to Erin Mills Pkwy. and two eastbound lanes from Erin Mills Pkwy. to the Credit River bridge will be impacted by the ongoing temporary closures.

The following lane closures are in effect from Sept. 18 to 26:

  • QEW westbound from from Hurontario St. to Erin Mills Pkwy.–Monday through Thursday (Sept. 19-22 and Sept. 26) first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.; Friday, Sept. 23 first lane from midnight to 7 a.m., second lane from midnight to 6 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 24 first lane from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., second lane from midnight to 7 a.m.; Sunday, Sept. 18 first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
  • QEW eastbound from Erin Mills Pkwy. to the Credit River bridge–Monday through Thursday (Sept. 19-22 and Sept. 26) first lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.; Friday, Sept. 23 first lane from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., second lane from midnight to 6 a.m.; Saturday, Sept. 24 first lane from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., second lane from midnight to 6 a.m.; Sunday, Sept. 18 first lane from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.

Project officials say they anticipate nightly traffic disruptions in order to facilitate various construction and lane work activities.

Meanwhile, seven consecutive nights of lane/ramp closures that started Sept. 11 in an effort to get as much work in before winter arrives ends on Saturday (Sept. 17).

The following lane closures are in effect through Sept. 17:

  • QEW eastbound from Erin Mills Pkwy. to the Credit River bridge–first lane from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.
  • QEW westbound from Hurontario St. to Erin Mills Pkwy.–first lane from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly, second lane from midnight to 5 a.m.

Notices of temporary lane and ramp closures on the QEW in Mississauga have been coming fast and furious in the past month.

QEW/Credit River Improvement Project officials have been putting out closure notices almost every other day.

As work continues on the Credit River bridge project, drivers and area residents can expect ongoing traffic disruptions to impact part of the QEW and other areas in the vicinity of Mississauga Rd. and the highway in the coming weeks and months.

Night and weekend work along the 2.6-km stretch of the QEW from Hurontario St. to Mississauga Rd. is expected to impact traffic for the duration of construction.
