The Drawing Room at The Prince of Wales Hotel made the Open Table list of 100 Most Popular Brunch Restaurants just in time for Mother's Day on May 14.

Four Niagara Region eateries have made the list of the 100 Most Popular Brunch Restaurants just in time for Mother’s Day on May 14, compiled by Open Table, a reservation giant which based their picks on over one million reviews.

Two are based in Lincoln – Lake House Restaurant and The Good Earth Vineyard and Winery – while the other two are on the other end of the region in Niagara-on-the-Lake – The Drawing Room at The Prince of Wales Hotel and Tiara Restaurant at Queen’s Landing Hotel.

The Lake House Restaurant (3100 North Service Rd.), a perennial choice on Open Table’s many lists, says it “features European Mediterranean cuisine, including such specialties as gourmet, thin-crust pizzas; magnificent pasta and risotto dishes as well as our Signature Pecan Crusted Salmon, Seafood Paella, Chicken Supreme, New York Striploin and many more. We offer a wine list featuring many selections from our local Niagara region.”

The Good Earth Vineyard and Winery (4556 Lincoln Ave.) noted of itself, “Since 1998, when we opened our Niagara farm, home and hearts to our guests, The Good Earth Food and Wine Co. has been a haven for discerning food and wine lovers and an oasis for the senses. Our gardens, orchards and vineyards provide a spectacular backdrop for wine and culinary experiences that reflect all the good things the earth has to offer.”

One of the region’s more prestigious hotels, The Drawing Room at The Prince of Wales Hotel (6 Picton St.), encourages visitors to “Visit Niagara-on-the-Lake to rediscover the attention-to-detail that defined a more elegant era. Celebrate special occasions with a selection of Artisan cheeses and sparkling wines. Toast to the picture perfect girls’ day with finger sandwiches, delicate desserts and morning mimosas.”

The tea room adds, “The Drawing Room is beautiful, from the adornment of rose chandeliers to floral teapots, fresh roses everywhere. Prince of Wales brings your whimsical garden party indoors. Our Victorian Tea Room and English delicacies are fit to be enjoyed by guests who appreciate regal treatment with an imaginative twist.”

Tiara Restaurant at Queen’s Landing Hotel said it offers, “Contemporary Dining overlooking the Niagara River, serving Ocean Wise Certified Seafood, Grilled Meats with The Best Ontario Produce, Local Wines, Craft Cocktails And Ales. The menu changes with the season, yet always showcases the finest ingredients to be found in Niagara and beyond. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week, Tiara also offers a delightful Sunday brunch, pre- and post-theatre dining, and an extensive wine list featuring local vintages and wines from around the world. Your four-diamond culinary extravaganza awaits at Tiara.”

Open Table says that in 2022, over half of Mother’s Day reservations (54 per cent) were booked four-days in advance, suggesting diners should book by May 9th this year to increase their chances of snagging mom’s favourite table.

“Our data indicates that Canadians’ appetite for eating out remains strong, with restaurant dining up four per cent year-over-year this April and we expect that enthusiasm will continue for Mother’s Day dining,”says Matt Davis, Country Director, OpenTable Canada.

Last Mother’s Day, the average spend per meal was $48 and the most popular cuisines were American, Italian and Canadian.
