Update 8:20 p.m. Police initially said the shooting took place in Port Colbourne. However, they were in error. The shooting in fact took place in Wainfleet.

Four suspects are in police custody while a fifth remains at large after the group appeared at a Port Colborne home armed with guns.

Officers responded to the rural area near Concession Rd. 6 and Wellandport Rd. around 7 p.m. on Feb. 28. Police first announced they were in the midst of tracking down three suspects after a “shooting incident” in town. They brought in K9 units to search the area.

Later on, shortly before 8 p.m., police said they had found out that a group of unidentified men had shown up at a home with guns. At least one shot was fired at the time, though no one in the home was hurt.

Officers with the Emergency Task Unit and K9 units have been searching the area. They have also requested aid from the OPP and a search helicopter.

Police announced they had arrested four men and continued to search for a fifth shortly thereafter. They have yet to identify or describe any suspects.

They have advised residents in the area to shelter in place and avoid the area.

However, they said more information will follow.
