Four in hospital after pile-up crash outside Beaverton

Four people are in hospital after a pile-up car crash just south of Beaverton.

OPP Media Officer Sgt Kerry Schmidt confirmed the crash shortly after 2 p.m. on June 1. He said his fellow officers were on scene on Hwy. 12 in response to a multiple-vehicle crash. The officers had closed down all lanes of traffic in both directions on Hwy. 12 from the town to Hwy. 48. This is a roughly 8 km shutdown.

The crash involved a dump truck and several personal cars. One of the people involved was injured severely enough to need an air ambulance trip to hospital. The others were taken for treatment in land ambulances. The OPP later confirmed two people were seriously injured.

OPP collision investigators were still on route to the scene as of Schmidt’s announcement. There has been no word on if any charges will be filed.
