Four Huge Festivals Set to Hit Brampton This Weekend

The Special Olympics Games in Peel run from July 13-15 at locations across Peel region, Vibrant Brampton is set to hit Garden Square on July 14 and 15, Carabram will set up pavilions across the city From July 14-16, and finally, #BollywoodMonster Does Brampton will hit the Rose Theatre on July 15. 

Brampton is definitely about to be very busy.

Here’s more of what’s happening at each event: 

The Special Olympics Games

Almost 800 athletes are coming to Peel for the 2017 Special Olympics Summer Provincial Games from Thursday, July 13, to Saturday, July 15. Competitors will participate in five different categories: athletics, bocce, soccer, softball, and golf.

Terry Fox Stadium and Century Gardens will host atheltics and bocce respectively, while Huron Park will host soccer and Dunton Athletic Fields will host softball in Mississauga, and finally, Caledon Country Club will host golf in Caledon.

Vibrant Brampton

Vibrant Brampton is a free, all day event in Garden Square that takes place this year on July 14 and 15. The festival aims to bring the performing arts of South Asia onstage in Brampton, and to celebrate multiculturalism in Ontario and Canada.

South Asian culture encompasses India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and residents are invited to watch dance groups, classical musicians, and popular singers, indulge in South Asian food, and purchase handicrafts.


Carabram celebrates 35 years on July 14, 15, and 16 this year. This cultural explosion features culture, food, crafts, drink, from different ethnic groups in Brampton.

The pavilions this year which will be set up at venues across the city include Eelam at the Brampton Soccer Centre, Canada, Ireland, Nepal, and the Philippines at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and China at the Chris Gibson Recreation Centre, Hawaii, India, and Punjab at the South Fletchers Recreation Centre, and finally, Portugal at the Vasco da Gama Cultural Centre. 

Tickets are available from July 15-16 for $12, and children under 12 get in free when accompanied by an adult ticket holder.

#BollywoodMonster Does Brampton

#BollywoodMonster Does Brampton (BMDB) is an all-day multi-arts event on July 15 at the Rose Theatre. 

An art display will take place during the day at BMDB, while the evening is split into two performances, a Spoken Word and Urban Music Showcase, and a series of Stand-up Comedy Night Cap Performances.

The Spoken Word and Urban Music Showcase features local talent like City of ImmigrantsJDSYNSavvResolved Dissonance, and Tremayne, with headliner Haviah Mighty. The Stand-up Comedy Night Cap Performances include talent like Xuif Ali, Ricardo Mejias, and headliner Jean-Paul.

Attending either the Spoken Word and Urban Music Showcase or the Stand-up Comedy Night Cap Performances at the Rose Theatre on July 15 costs $6 for advance tickets, or $8 at the door. Audiences can also purchase tickets for both acts for $8 in advance or $10 at the door.
