Four from Mississauga face charges after out-of-town robbery investigation

Four from Mississauga face criminal charges following an investigation into robberies in Toronto and Markham.

According to York Regional Police, on September 20 of last year two masked men went to a bank on Steeles Ave. E. in  Markham and tried to force open locked doors. When they failed the pair fled in the scene.

A short time later, police believe the same culprits went into a cellphone store on Weston Rd. in Toronto armed with a handgun and made off with a large number of phones.

Through the investigation, suspects were identified and search warrants were executed at two residences in the City of Mississauga.

During one of the searches, officers located a 9 mm loaded Glock handgun, two loaded magazines, a semi-automatic shot gun with two loaded magazines, a semi-automatic assault rifle, an air soft rifle, a Taser, approximately one ounce of crack cocaine, one pound of marihuana and approximately $2,000 Canadian currency. Two additional people found in the residence with the firearms have also been charged.

One of the suspects has also been charged in connection with two robberies that occurred on January 15, 2021 in Etobicoke and on January 16, 2021 in Scarborough.

Jaidyn Young, 21, is charged with:

  • Two counts of Robbery with Firearm
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Crack Cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distribution of Cannabis

Israel Braithwaite, 20, of Mississauga is charged with:

  • Four counts of Robbery with a Firearm

Eli Christian, 54, and Georgia Brown, 56, both from Mississauga are charged with:

  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
