Four arrests made in relation to investigation in Oakville after vehicle stolen in Mississauga

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) – 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau has arrested four people in relation to an auto theft investigation in Oakville.

Police say on Jan. 6, 2023, just after 8:00 a.m., the HRPS was notified by Peel Police of a 2022 Toyota Highlander that was stolen from a Mississauga residence that morning.

An investigation indicated that the stolen vehicle was in the area of Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.

HRPS investigators attended the area and observed the vehicle.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., a male suspect was dropped off by a Honda Civic with a Quebec licence plate.  The suspect entered the stolen Highlander and was arrested by police.

The Honda Civic was stopped a short time later while driving on Highway 403 in Burlington and three male suspects were also arrested, according to police.

Police say the Honda Civic was not stolen.

Four people from Quebec have been charged including 18-year-old Gabriel Akokanne, 21-year-old Rock Desvarieux, 18-year-old Iliasse Idlhaj and 21-year-old Nathanael Lembani.

All have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, according to police.

All parties were released on undertakings.
