Forty school bus routes cancelled today in Durham, including 16 in Clarington and 12 in Ajax

Mondays seem to be the toughest for bus operators to ensure they have enough drivers, with 40 school bus routes cancelled in Durham today, including 16 in Clarington and a dozen in Ajax.

There are six school bus routes in Pickering, four in Scugog and two in Oshawa cancelled today (May 1) as well.

Schools looking at bus cancellations include Duke of Cambridge, Bowmanville High, Clarington Central Secondary and Clarington Central Intermediate; St. Stephen, St. Francis of Assisi, Charles Bowman (four routes) and Newcastle; all in Clarington. In Ajax there are route cancellations at Cadarackque (four routes), Lincoln Avenue, Eagle Ridge, St. Catherine of Sienna and Terry Fox.

Pickering schools affected include St. Elizabeth Seaton, Highbush and St. Marys High, Scugog schools include Cartwright Central, RH Cornish and Good Shepherd while two routes at Village Union in Oshawa are also affected.
