Forty-one cancelled school bus routes; ten in Pickering

Another Tuesday, another 41 school bus routes dropped due to the chronic lack of bus drivers in Durham Region; an issue that has plagued operators most of the school year.

The cancelled routes were spread out across the region, with ten in Pickering, eight in Clarington, six in Ajax and Scugog, five in Oshawa, four in Brock Township and two in Uxbridge.

Schools affected include Pine Ridge (AM only), Dunbarton, Valleyview, Maple Ridge, St. Elizabeth Seaton (PM only) and William Dunbar in Pickering; and Bowmanville High, Newcastle, St. Francis of Assisi, Duke of Cambridge and Charles Bowman in Clarington.

Other schools looking at bus cancellations are Cadarackque, St. Catherine of Sienna and Terry Fox in Ajax; Port Perry High, Greenbank, RH Cornish, Good Shepherd and SA Cawker in Scugog; Thorah Central, Holy Family, Beaverton, McCaskill’s Mills and Brock High in Brock Township; O’Neill, St. Christopher and St. Anne in Oshawa; and St. Joseph in Uxbridge.
