A 35 year-old former education assistant has been charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident at a Clarington school in 2018.

Special Victims Unit agents started an investigation in August after a victim came forward. As a result, Ashley Jenson, 35, of Baltimore, was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. This incident took place at a Durham Region elementary school in 2018 and the name of the school is being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.

Jenson, who was released on an Undertaking, was an employee of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board from 2010 to 2021 but is no longer employed by a school board. Investigators want to ensure there are no other victims.

Anyone with new information about this investigation is asked to contact Det. Rabishaw of the Special Victims Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5327.

Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
