A former employee with the City of Hamilton is accused of theft and trafficking of property.

Police say the investigation began in late December after several iPads owned by the city were reported missing.

A 30-year-old male who no longer works for the city is accused of stealing and selling the iPads using buy and sell online platforms.

He faces charges of theft and trafficking property under $5,000.

“Investigators believe that additional iPads may have been sold and are requesting the assistance of the public,” said a spokesperson for the Hamilton Police Service via email.

“If you have purchased an iPad on a local buy and sell platform in the past three months or know anyone who has purchased one that may be related to this investigation, please call Detective Constable Jennyfer Carranza-Mejia at 905-546-3818.”
