For the second time in two days, Alectra Utilities has been scrambling to fix power outages in St. Catharines.

This morning (November 24) just past 9:30 am, nearly 8,000 businesses and homes went dark due to “an underground distribution problem.”

The blackout area run from Beachhaven Dr to Queenston St. and Tasker St to Read Rd.

By 11:30 am, about 2,000 customers had their power restored while 10 minutes later, another 1,600 got their lights back on.

At noon, it was down to 965 without power and the utilities company seemed confident that by 1 pm, all power would be restored.
