For the first time in over a month, Niagara Health said new COVID-19 cases have hit double digits with 11 reported today (August 6).

Back on July 2, the region reported 14 new cases but since that time, it’s been a long stream of single-digit daily new cases.

That has left Wainfleet as the only municipality in Niagara with zero cases. Fort Erie and Port Colborne – former members of the Zero Cases Club as recently as yesterday – both got pushed to one new case overnight.

St Catharines continued to lead Niagara in existing cases with 12, followed by Niagara Falls at seven and Grimsby at six.

On the positive side, Niagara Region has now vaccinated 630,879 residents with 70.4 per cent having been jabbed once and 61.2 per cent being fully vaccinated.
