Mackie organized what he called, a “sit in against segregation,” at the Oshawa Tim Hortons to protest Ontario’s vaccine passport and mask laws.
Following his arrest, supporters organized similar events in to disrupt operations. Some Oshawa and Whitby Tim Hortons’ closed their dining rooms as a result, creating massive lines at their drive-throughs.
Mackie was later released with a promise to appear in court. After his release he thanked supporters for shutting down other locations.
2/3 We worked amazingly as a very large group and our leadership was very helpful. We stood our ground… shut down a few Timmies… had two sit-ins for freedom/against segregation and we gained some new supporters.
