Food and clothing among products recalled from stores in Brampton, Hamilton and Halton

Health Canada has issued advisories and recalled multiple products this week (May 31 to June 6) due to potential health and safety risks.

Residents are advised to check if they have these products at home and avoid using or consuming them out of caution.

The following products are affected:


Searay brand Thailand Black Tiger Shrimp Size 31-40

Type: Recall

Risk: The product contains sulphites which are not declared on the label, posing a risk to people with a sensitivity to sulphites.

Triple Crown brand Black Tiger Shrimp

Type: Recall

Risk: The product contains sulphites which are not declared on the label, posing a risk to people with a sensitivity to sulphites.

Product info: Frozen black tiger shrimp raw E-Z peel headless shell-on, 26/30. Size: 680 g. Code: 03/07/20. UPC: 0 64048 85007 2.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store they were purchased from.


Occasions Easter Girl Tutu Skirt with Ribbon and Bunny Tail Tied on

Type: Recall

Risk: The products do not meet the Textile Flammability Regulations, posing a potential burn risk to users.

Product info: The recall involves the Easter girl tutu skirt with Ribbon and Bunny Tail Tied on in 3 colours: pink, blue and purple. The product label shows the logo OCCASIONSTM with a white bunny on the left bottom corner and an Easter basket with colorful eggs on the right bottom corner and a little girl sitting in a pink tutu in front of a dollhouse. It has the product code 07-3088742 and the UPC 00667888420629.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and return the product to Dollarama S.E.C./L.P. for a refund.


Kalorik Pro 1500F Electric Steakhouse Grill

Type: Recall

Risk: The affected products have faulty temperature and timer knobs that cause electricity to be conducted to the touchable surface of the knob, posing a risk of electric shock. As of May 26, 2021, the company has received 2 reports of electric shock in Canada.

Product info: Kalorik Pro 1500F Electric Steakhouse Grill, model number KPRO GR 45602.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug the recalled product and contact Team International Group of America, Inc. for a free repair kit.


CM BQ-4 Multi-flex BBQ Lighters

Type: Recall

Risk: The lighters can pose burn and fire hazards. They may exceed the allowable flame height during ignition, may exhibit an abnormal, sudden increase in flame height, may continue to burn after the trigger mechanism has been released, and may not have a child resistant mechanism.

Product info: This recall involves CM BQ-4 Multi-flex BBQ lighters. The lighters are marked with brand name “CHATEAU” and UPC 7 74471 03858 8. They have a flexible tube extending from the body of the lighter and are available in yellow, green, blue and pink.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the lighters and return to the place of purchase for a refund.


Thule Tepui Hybox, Thule Tepui Hybox Wedge, Tepui Hybox, Tepui Hybox Wedge rooftop tents

Type: Recall

Risk: Under certain environmental and driving conditions the shell material will see excessive force causing it to crack and detach from the mounting hardware, resulting in potential injury hazard.

Product info: This recall involves the following rooftop tents manufactured by Thule Sweden AB.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the Tepui Hybox, Tepui Hybox Wedge, Thule Tepui HyBox or Thule Tepui HyBox Wedge rooftop tent and contact Thule for a refund or a free of charge replacement tent.

Type: Advisory

Risk: These magnet sets exceed the maximum allowable limit of magnetic force as stated in Canada’s Toys Regulations and can be swallowed, posing serious and potentially life-threatening risks.

Type: Recall

Risk: Infants who are placed unrestrained in the products and later found on their stomach are at risk of suffocation.

Product info: This recall involves the Fisher-Price 4-in-1 Rock ‘n Glide Soothers with model numbers CBT81, CHP55, and CHP56 and the Fisher-Price 2-in-1 Soothe ‘n Play Gliders with model numbers, GDD28, GDD39, GDD41, GGW85, GNX43, GVG43, and HBT17.

What you should do: Canadian consumers should immediately stop using the product and contact Mattel to obtain a full or partial refund.
