A very busy intersection in Mississauga is closed Thursday (Jan. 20) as crews work to clean up a massive flood that started after a snow plow struck a fire hydrant.

The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. in the area of Tomken Road and Eglinton Avenue in Mississauga.

Police said a large amount of water has collected and pooled on the roadway and crews are in the process of cleaning it up.

Water to the hydrant was shut off as of 7:45 a.m and Eglinton will be closed between Tomken Road and Maingate Drive for the duration of the clean up.

Motorists may want to avoid the area in the meantime.
