The latest flight carrying Afghan refugees fleeing their war-torn homeland arrived this afternoon at Mississauga’s Pearson International Airport.

According to reports, an undisclosed number of refugees seeking a new life in Canada were on board a flight that landed at 1 p.m. Buses were waiting nearby to transport the passengers from the airport.

Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan ended yesterday, when 500 more Canadians were flown out of Kabul on an American flight. Still, an unknown number of Canadians and their families remain trapped in Afghanistan, as well as vulnerable Afghans who fear Taliban reprisals.

The Canadian withdrawal was followed by an attack on Kabul airport that killed 13 American soldiers and dozens of fleeing Afghans.
