Five suspects sought following violent home invasion in Pickering

Police are investigating and searching for the suspects of an overnight, violent break-in that happened in Pickering.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a residence in the area of Dragonfly Avenue and Sapphire Drive where five male suspects had broken into the home and assaulted a young male.

“The suspects stole a quantity of items and fled on foot to a light coloured vehicle in the area,” said Durham Regional Police.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Police say the suspects range in age from 17 to 22 and were all wearing ski masks and various colours of hooded sweatshirts.

One of the suspects is described as a black male with a medium build, six feet tall, hair in an afro, and wearing sunglasses with gold trim and a navy hooded sweatshirt.

No other suspect descriptions have been provided by police at this time.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
