Five new Covid cases in Durham; two in Ajax

Durham Region Health reported five new cases of Covid-19 yesterday, bringing the seven-day average to just over than 4.5 per day.

There were zero cases reported Saturday, the second time this week the Region has reported no new Covid cases.
There are 29 active cases, with just one person hospitalized.

Variants of concern – particularly the Delta Variant – remain an issue, with 79 B.1.617.2 cases reported so far, with 11 still active.

Vaccination totals have now topped 771,000, with 54 per cent of Durham’s adult population having received at least one dose. Fifty-four percent of the over-18 demographic in Durham is fully vaccinated.

Oshawa continues to trail on the vaccination front, with 71.8 percent of residents with one dose and 48.7 per cent enjoying a two-dose summer.
