Five Hamilton neighbourhoods reporting higher COVID-19 rates

Five areas in Hamilton are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of September 19 to 25.

Of the top 50 listed, five are in Hamilton:

L9B at 5.67%
20th highest positivity in Ontario

L8R at 4.78%
35th highest positivity in Ontario

L8J at 4.35%
40th highest positivity in Ontario

L8G at 4.33%
41st highest positivity in Ontario

L8E at 3.95%
50th highest positivity in Ontario

The same data for the week indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Hamilton has the fifth worst COVID-19 positivity in the province.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of September 19 was 2.1%, down 0.5% from the previous week.
