Niagara Regional Police have arrested and charged five people following a reported gunpoint robbery in the parking lot of a Niagara Falls hotel earlier this week.

On Monday (Dec. 6), police were called to a hotel in the area of Ellen Avenue and Centre Street where the incident, that victimized a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s, is said to have unfolded.

Police said the man in his 40s is said to have come to the hotel to collect money owed to him for repairs he made on a car. When he went to one of the hotel rooms to get his money, the man was confronted by a group of men who pointed a knife at him and demanded his car keys.

The man was able to escape to his car where the woman in her 20s was waiting, police said. As they were about to drive away, the victims were then confronted by a woman armed with a knife and two men who pointed a gun at the victims and demanded their belongings.

The victims were able to flee the area when a short time later the suspects fled the hotel in a truck.

Police found the suspects’ truck a short distance away at another hotel and the suspects were located and arrested.
