Car chase ends at Whitby high school after thrown object smashes windshield

Five cars chased down a sixth vehicle until it crashed in a Whitby high school parking lot last Sunday with the victim suffering serious injuries.

The quintet of cars chased the victim through Brooklin and Whitby for some time around midnight July 10. The chase ended up at Sinclair Secondary School on Taunton Road near Garden Street where a man stepped out of one of the five cars and threw an unspecified object at the victim’s windshield, smashing it, causing the victim to lose control of his vehicle.

The driver suffered serious injuries and his two passengers suffered minor injuries. All received treatment and have since been released from hospital.

Police describe the five cars as;

  • a silver Nissan Altima,
  • a grey BMW sedan,
  • a white SUV of unknown make and model,
  • a black sedan of unknown make or model, and
  • a crossover vehicle of unknown colour, make or model.

Police have called on the public to review any dashcam or security footage of the area they may have captured. They have asked anyone with footage or who witnessed the chase to come forward.
