Oshawa Port

Oshawa’s port is officially open for business for the new fiscal year after welcoming its first ship of the season.

Captain Glenn Powell arrived on March 27 on his vessel NACC Argonaut. Powell has been a ship captain for the last ten years, per his LinkedIn.

NACC stands for the shipping company NovaAlgoma Cement Carrier. The Argonaut is 136 meters long and 21 meters wide. It left Montreal on March 20 carrying a load of concrete for construction. It then hit Port-Daniel and Sainte Catharine on its way down the St Lawrence.

As the first Captain to hit the Oshawa port this year, Powell was awarded the traditional top hat. This is the 77th hat Oshawa port has presented to the first captain. Chief Engineer Oleg Rybakov also received a hat.

After a brief stop in Oshawa, the Argonaut left port shortly before 6 p.m. headed east. Its next stop is Bath, Ontario.
