Mayor Bonnie Crombie says the city’s vaccine rollout is ramping up, with a new vaccination centre planned to open soon in Mississauga.

The centre is located in the field house at Paramount Fine Foods Centre, the sports/entertainment centre located at 5500 Rose Cherry Place.

The centre will reportedly have the capacity to vaccinate up to 600 people an hour.

Residents 80 years and older will be among the next groups prioritized, the mayor says.

Crombie says the centre is slated to open “very soon” but an exact date has not yet been confirmed.

In a recent interview, Mayor Crombie confirmed that the city is looking at more potential facilities and community centres in Mississauga, including The International Centre at 6900 Airport Rd.

More updates are expected in the coming days.
