Firefighters rescue resident from apartment blaze in Brampton

One person was treated by paramedics following a rescue from a sixth-floor apartment in Brampton on the weekend.

The fire broke out at an apartment building at 11655 Bramalea Rd. on Saturday afternoon, Brampton Fire and Emergency Services said in a statement.

Firefighters said one occupant was removed from a unit on the sixth floor.

The victim was transferred to the care of paramedics on the scene while firefighters knocked down the blaze and ventilated the affected unit, BFES said.

Fire crews asked residents to avoid the area while emergency crews were on the scene and the fire was under control by around 1:30 p.m.

The blaze was the second fire at an apartment on Bramalea Road this month, both on the sixth floor of different buildings.

The previous fire broke out on Sept. 5 on the sixth floor of an apartment building at 68 Bramalea Rd. Fire crews said the fire was brought under control but one occupant inside a unit was “tended to for medical purposes.”
