Firearm and drugs seized in Brampton traffic stop

Uniform officers from 22 Division have charged three individuals with multiple drug and firearm-related offences in Brampton.

Police say on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, uniform officers from 22 Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of Steeles Avenue and Hurontario Street in Brampton.

According to police, as a result of the traffic stop, officers located a quantity of cocaine and dried cannabis, as well as a high capacity magazine with 11 rounds of ammunition, three face masks and an additional nine rounds of 9mm luger ammunition.

The 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau took carriage of the investigation and with the assistance of the Tactical Unit, a Criminal Code search warrant was executed on a residence in Brampton, according to police.

Police say the search revealed a sawed-off prohibited 410 gauge shotgun with a spent shell in the chamber as well as a quantity of fentanyl and ecstasy.

According to police, the following individuals were charged and held for bail hearings and they attended the Ontario Court of Justice.

Anathanael Haye, a 21-year-old man from Brampton, was charged with unauthorized possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance (x2), possession for the purpose, possession for the purpose of distributing, possession of dried cannabis in a public place, possession of illicit cannabis, drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, amber light fail to stop, obstruct plate, unauthorized possession of firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm, careless storage of firearm, possession of a loaded firearm and possession of opioid.

Dashawn Rouse, a 21-year-old man from Brampton, was charged with unauthorized possession of firearm, careless storage of firearm, possession of a firearm, possession of opioid and possession of a controlled substance.

Chantel Rouse, a 41-year-old woman from Brampton, was charged with unauthorized possession of firearm, careless storage of firearm, possession of a loaded firearm, possession of opioid and possession of a controlled substance.
