Fire marshal called in to investigate blaze at home on East Mountain

Hamilton Fire Crews were on the scene of residential blaze Tuesday night (Nov. 24) on the East Mountain that caused heavy damage.

Reports of a structure fire at 563 Queen Victoria Dr. came in shortly after 4 p.m., according to a Tweet from the Hamilton Fire Department (HFD).

When crews arrived on the scene, they found that the exterior of the house was indeed on fire and that flames had engulfed a portion of the roof. Heavy fire and smoke were found coming from the attic.

The residents of the home were able to escape the house safely on their own, an HFD spokesperson confirmed to IntheHammer.

Extensive damage to the house was caused by the blaze that crews were able to bring under control quickly.

Hamilton Police remained on the scene through the night to secure the area for the arrival of Ontario’s Fire Marshal who was called in to investigated the circumstances of the fire.

Roads in the area reopened early Wednesday morning.

The damage to the home is estimated at $375,000.
