Toronto City Councillor proposes police at all transit stations and platform doors amid safety concerns

Commuters from the west end of Toronto will face delays today and possibly for days on the TTC due to a fire.

There is no subway service on Line 2 between Kipling Station and Jane Station in both directions due to a fire investigation today (April 26), TTC said on their website.

Shuttle buses are running but as roads are busy during the commute and there will likely be delays.

“Surface routes will be busy, leave extra time if using shuttle service,” the TTC said on its website.

The TTC suggests people consider a GO Train from Kipling or take Lakeshore West as an alternative.

Commuters could also take the UP Express from Pearson Airport in Mississauga.

A fire was reported outside Islington Station yesterday afternoon. The fire damaged signal lines, TTC spokesperson Stuart Green told reporters.

Crews began working on repairs yesterday but it expected to take at least a couple of days before service is restored, Green said.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
