A fire has broken out at an apartment building in the Westdale area, another fire in the City of Hamilton in the last two days.

The Hamilton Fire Department is on scene of a structure fire on Glen Rd. between Tope Crescent and Macklin St. North.

Firefighters arrived to find a well involved fire on the 11th floor of the building.

Reports say smoke could been seen coming from an upper-floor balcony and crews say the unit sustained significant damage.

The fire is being deemed suspicious and the office of the Fire Marshal has been contacted.

Fire and Emergency Services have not said whether there are any injuries.

Just yesterday (June 18) a fire in downtown Hamilton caused extensive damage.

A vacant, four-storey commercial building located at 206 King St. West went up in flames.

Hamilton Fire Chief, David Cunliffe said the building suffered significant structural collapse on all four walls.

Falling debris damaged an A&W restaurant building as well as several parked cars in a lot immediately north of the destroyed building.
