House fire in Mississauga forces students at three schools to stay inside

A fire broke out at a townhouse today in Mississauga.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on Delgrado Drive, near Hwy. 401 and Mavis Road on Tuesday (July 4) afternoon, according to a tweet from Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services at 1:42 p.m.

Smoke was reportedly seen from the second floor and attic of the home.

Fortunately, there were smoke detectors in the home, the residents were alerted to the fire and escaped safely, Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services tell insauga.com. There were no injuries.

The fire was upgraded to a second alarm, and Mississauga Fire asked people to avoid the area.

By around 3 p.m. the fire was under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
