It may not quite seem like it, but golf season has arrived.
Although snow is still falling in some parts, golfers are eager to get out on the fairways, and Mississauga has a few to offer, including two that are operated by the city.
And here is the good news: one of them is open today (April 11).
BraeBen Championship Golf Course, located at 5700 Terry Fox Way, is ready to go with its 18-hole par 72 course providing 6,335 yards of challenges.
Located in the Heartland community (and situated on what was once the municipal garbage dump), the course not only provides plenty of golfing opportunities for the next several months in a convenient location, but it also offers great views of Mississuaga’s emerging skyline.
Then, next Wednesday, April 16, Lakesview Golf Course will open at 1190 Dixe Road in southeast Mississauga.
The 118-year-old Lakeview is the two-time host of the Canadain Open and is designated as an Ontario Heritage site.
Designed by Herbet Strong, a founding member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America, Lakeview remains true to its parkland-style course layout, featuring large sloping greens with subtle breaks that offer both challenges and fun in a setting that is still considered a hidden gem tucked away in the big city.
Also, on April 16, the BraeBen Driving Range will open, followed on April 25 with the seasonal launch of the BraeBen 9-hole Academy.
