All good – and crazy and stunning and shocking – things must come to an end and in less than a month in Niagara Falls, that’ll be the case for the filming of Canada’s Got Talent at the OLG Stage in the Fallsview Casino Resort.

The grand finale is scheduled for May 16 at 5:30 pm in front of celebrity judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Trish Stratus and Kardinal Offishall, along with host Lindsay Ell. The winner will received  cheque for $100,000.

This year’s version – Season 2 (though technically Season 3 – we’ll explain in a minute) – ran successfully at the Niagara Falls entertainment stage and tapings of the show were the first entertainment to be seen at the brand new 5,000-seat OLG Stage.

Last season, contestants playing in front of 1,500-person crowds at the smaller Avalon Theatre until the OLG Stage opened in the fall.

Auditions for last season was interrupted several times by changing COVID-19 restrictions in Ontario but the finale aired in May with Quebec singer Jeanick Fournier taking the top prize.

While this is the second season for the present group of judges, there was a first season back in 2012 that featured host Dina Pugliese and judges Martin Short, Measha Brueggergosman and Stephan Moccio.

However, in the initial edition, the judges travelled across Canada to see auditions, stopping in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto and Halifax.

As for tickets, well, they claim to be sold out. However, every taping of this season has seen hundreds of ticket miraculously appear on the night of the performance as if a magician on stage has conjured them up.

So stay tuned as it’ll likely happen again. In the meanwhile, here’s the top talents from this year’s Week One taping.
