More than 35 staff and volunteers showed up – rain and all – at Saturday morning’s final downtown Oshawa community clean-up event.

It was the third of three monthly clean-ups in the city’s downtown core since August.

Residents, local organizations and businesses have been encouraged to take part in the monthly community clean-up events Oshawa and to organize group clean-ups in their own neighbourhoods.

“Let’s work together to keep our downtown and neighbourhoods clean and welcoming for all,” Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter said in the days leading up to Saturday’s event.

The Community Clean-Ups support the mandate of the Mayor’s Task Force on Community Safety, Security and Well-Being, including the Task Force’s focus on community action for community solutions and its phased approach beginning with the downtown core.

For groups who would like to organize a cleanup in their own neighbourhood, including parks, green spaces and trails, please pre-register to receive your free garbage bags and gloves (while supplies last). For more information, including the registration form, visit www.oshawa.ca/community-clean-up or call 905-438-3146.
