The Town of Halton Hills has developed a final design concept for Rennie Street Park in Acton, which is set to get a makeover.

Rennie Street Park is a two-hectare neighbourhood park that offers several recreational services and amenities such as a playground, an intermediate-sized soccer field, open green space, seating and access to Rachlin Trail.

Initially, two preliminary designs were developed for the park, which is located at 32 Rennie Street in southeast Acton. Both designs offered examples of possible layouts and features that incorporated feedback from residents that was collected through a survey.

According to the Town, the new design aims to promote active living in a healthy, safe, inclusive and sustainable environment.

The final design builds off of the existing park features while also addressing the themes that were identified throughout the public consultation.

These included improving the picturesque character of the park with landscaping, providing a range of play elements for children, youth, adults and seniors alike and maintaining and enhancing programming already established within the park.

Additionally, feedback collected indicated the desire to protect neighbouring properties and provide shade, a pathway connection to the Rennie Woodlot Trail and seating and rest areas all while refraining from cluttering the park.

Construction for this project is expected to begin next month with the completion and installation of the new equipment for the obstacle and challenge-focused play area scheduled for the spring of 2023.
