A Filipino pop-up restaurant will be returning to the Food District at Square One in Mississauga next month.

Kumain Kitchen, which has been a pop-up at the Food District in the past, will be returning from Feb. 21 to 28, 2023.

Just like last time, the menu will feature classic desserts and dishes from around the world made with a Filipino twist.

Kumain Kitchen is best known for their menu items including the sinigang chicken sandwich, ube chicken waffle and fried chicken, fried chicken with gravy, chicken inasal, furikake boneless fried chicken and more.

And, for those with a sweet tooth, the menu also features items such as milo drinks, buko pandan and ube karioka.

Kumain Kitchen, which has been in business since November 2020, has a goal to “build a stronger community and to showcase Filipino flavours around the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).”

“The inspiration behind our menu was our desire to highlight that Filipino food can be beautiful, artistic and full of flavour,” reads Kumain Kitchen’s pop-up page on Square One’s website.

“At the beginning, we saw that there wasn’t a lot of Filipino small business out there. So we took a leap and started one.”

Currently, Kumain Kitchen does not have a restaurant location but continues to do pop-ups, food markets, food festivals and other events.

While the team hopes to have a physical Kumain Kitchen location in the future, they currently offer delivery, pick-up and catering services.
