A pop up restaurant brings a taste of the Philippines to Mississauga this month.

Kumain Kitchen opened in The Food District at Square One, 100 City Centre Dr., with a menu showcasing classic desserts and dishes from around the world but with a Filipino twist.

Twin brothers Ryan and Jason Buising, who grew up in Mississauga, are behind the venture bringing experience working alongside celebrity chef, Humberto Sanchez, at Bar Catalina in Port Credit.

The eat-in restaurant has a menu of savoury chicken dishes such as Filipino fried chicken with gravy, chicken inasal, ube chicken waffle and fried chicken, the sinigang chicken sandwich, la paz batchoy, and furikake boneless fried chicken.

For those with a sweet tooth, offerings include buko pandan (a cold Filipino fruit salad), ube karioka (rice balls) and a milo drink.

This is the third time Kumain Kitchen has opened a pop up in Square One. They had earlier ventures in the spring and in September.

This pop up runs from Oct. 11 to 31 from Monday to Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
