Fifteen year-old arrested after fight in Oshawa park sends one teen to hospital with stab wound

An altercation in Easton Park yesterday resulted in a 15-year-old suffering serious injuries and another 15-year-old in police custody according to new details released by Durham Police.

Around 12:30 December 1, while students were out for lunch, police were called to Easton Park near Harmony Road and Adelaide Avenue after a stabbing was reported.

When officers arrived the found the victim, 15, suffering serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment.

The suspect, meanwhile fled the scene on foot. As police combed the area, six area schools were placed on hold-and-secure orders.

Harmony Heights, Eastdale CVI, Vincent Massey, Gordon B. Attersley Sir Albert Love and Coronation public schools locked their doors, but continued to function normally inside.

Later in the day police arrested another 15-year-old. The teenager, from Oshawa, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The arrested teen, whose identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will remain in custody until a bail hearing.
