The federal Minister responsible for small businesses will be touring both Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines today (April 6) to highlight federal budget investments.

Markham-Thornhill MP Mary Ng, also the federal Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, will start her day at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake at 12:30 pm before shifting down the highway for some small businesses in St. Catharines.

She’ll head to Ramaker’s Dutch Imports on Ontario St. at 2:20 pm before moving down to businesses in the St. Paul St.-James St. downtown core, including Adam’s Flora, Beechwood Doughnuts, and Wandering Spirits.

Born in British Hong Kong, Ng knows something about small businesses. In the 1970s, Ng’s parents immigrated to Canada, later establishing a family-owned restaurant in Toronto. Along with her brother and sister, Ng grew up working in the family’s restaurant.
