Police are searching for a federal offender known to frequent Oshawa for allegedly breaching his release conditions.

Jasean King was convicted of two counts of drug possession with intent to traffic, drug trafficking, uttering threats, mischief and failure to comply with release conditions. He was sentenced to three years in prison for these offenses.

Under Canadian law, those convicted of a crime are released from prison under supervision after serving two-thirds of their sentence. The offender then serves the rest of their sentence in the community, regularly meeting with a parole officer.

The Government of Canada describes the process as “time under supervision in the community before their sentence ends to help them return to society as law-abiding citizens.” However, this status is revoked if the offender breaks their release conditions and they are sent back to prison.

King is alleged to have breached these conditions and a search is underway to return him to custody. The OPP Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad has undertaken the search. They describe King as a 24-year-old Black man, standing five-foot-nine and weighing 161 pounds with black dreadlocked hair and a black beard.

Police added King is known to frequent Oshawa, Windsor and the Greater Toronto Area generally.

Anyone with information regarding King’s whereabouts can call the OPP at 416-808-5900.
