Hamilton police are searching for a 22-year-old man accused of killing his father in Stoney Creek on Saturday evening.
Investigators say Kuldip Singh, 56, was seriously injured in a fight outside of his home in Stoney Creek, and that a family member and neighbours witnessed the altercation.
Police say the man was taken to hospital, where he died.
They’re looking for Sukhraj Cheema-Singh, the victim’s son, who is wanted on a charge of first-degree murder.
Police say shortly after 7:30 p.m., they responded to a home near the intersection of Trafalgar and Mud Street in Stoney Creek.
At the scene, officers found a man with severe injuries who was taken to hospital but was later pronounced dead. Police have not disclosed the nature of the injuries that led to the man’s death.
Police say he left the area in a small mid-sized dark blue SUV and was seen travelling northbound on Trafalgar towards Mud Street shortly after the fight.
Investigators have not disclosed the nature of the injuries that led to the father’s death but say Cheema-Singh remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.
On Feb. 12, Hamilton police said the suspect is driving a blue 2022 Ford Edge with Quebec licence plate FSC 7432.
“The vehicle is an Enterprise rental car and may have a sticker or licence plate cover indicating such,” police said on X.
Investigators believe he was in the area for approximately thirty minutes prior to the incident and fled immediately following the altercation with his father.
