81-year-old mississauga man killed in collision on highway 427 in toronto.

An 81-year-old Mississauga man was killed when the vehicle in which he was travelling crashed into a guardrail on Highway 427 just north of Toronto Pearson Airport on Thursday afternoon.

Ontario Provincial Police said they’re seeking witnesses to the fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred at around 2 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the busy highway, at Finch Avenue in Toronto.

Police said the northbound vehicle crashed into the left guardrail/centre median of the highway.

An 81-year-old Mississauga man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, adding two other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police didn’t say who was driving the vehicle, nor have they released the name of the man who was killed.

The crash shut down all northbound lanes of Highway 427 and part of Finch Avenue, east of the highway, well into the evening, with lanes not reopening until about 10 p.m. on Thursday.

OPP said they’re investigating the possibility the vehicle may have entered the highway from Finch Avenue just prior to the crash.

Police are seeking witnesses to the collision and/or those with dash cam footage as the investigation continues.
