Fatal collision near Ontario tourism location remains under investigation

A fatal collision has occured near Ontario’s popular summer tourist destination.

A report today from the West Parry Sound OPP detachment — a major destination in the Georgian Bay — relayed that a two-vehicle collision near the municipality has resulted in one fatality.

The incident, according to police, occured last night at 10:30 p.m. when officers responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Highway 69 near Highway 522 in Henvey Inlet First Nation.

OPP were assisted during the investigation by the Anishinabek Police Service.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not identified the deceased individual or the status of other potential motorists and passengers.

The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
