Family Day will be observed on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, across St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Welland and the Niagara Region.
The holiday takes place on the third Monday of February each year and is recognized as a statutory holiday in Ontario and several other Canadian provinces, although it may be called by different names depending on the province.
Because Family Day is a provincial holiday and not a federal one, some federal government offices may remain open.
In designated tourist destinations such as Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake, select shopping centres are permitted to operate, while other malls and retail power centres may be closed. Residents are encouraged to check directly with businesses for specific Family Day holiday hours.
