Durham Police officers joined their policing families from across Ontario to honour fallen officers at the Ontario Police Memorial and to add DRPS Constable Vicki Lynn Wilson’s name to the Wall of Honour.

Wilson died in the line of duty in 1992 as a result of a medical episode. Members of her family were among those in attendance at the ceremony.

A four-year member of the service who was also involved in the Special Olympics Torch Run, Wilson joined as a cadet at the age of 18.

Four other fallen officers were added to the memorial this year:

  • Constable Andrew Hong, Toronto Police Service – shot dead in a deadly ambush in a Mississauga coffee shop last September
  • Constable Devon Northrup and
  • Constable Morgan Russell, South Simcoe Police Service – both killed in Innisfil in October
  • Provincial Constable Grzegorz Pierzchala, OPP – shot and killed near Hagersville in December 2022
