A Brampton man has been charged after fake identification was used to try to open a bank account in Peterborough.
According to police reports, a man went into the bank and presented documentation in an attempt to open an account.
Bank staff spotted the fake information and contacted the Peterborough Police.
“Upon arrival, officers witnessed a man matching the description given to police attempting to leave the bank. He was taken into custody without incident,” police said.
As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Brampton man was arrested and charged with:
- Fraud over $5000
- Two counts of using, deals, acts on forged document
- Obtain credit by false pretences or fraud
The accused has been released from custody by promising to appear in court on May 20.
Peterborough Police do not release the names of people charged with crimes.
